What to Look For When Investing in a Business

Amy DeBartolo, JD, Owner, Powder Coating Alternatives, and The Basket Company

Venture capital and angel investors have no shortage of innovative investment ideas or business plans projecting exponential growth. But when all is said and done, an investor is committing a large sum of money to be used by a business with the expectation of multiplying their invested capital. Regardless of how radically this new product will change the world, the investor will most likely want to know about the financial stability of the company and its owners, as well as the operational mechanics of how their money will be managed.

 Topics include:

  • Corporate culture and leadership
  • Financial stability of owners and executives
  • Key employee protection and retention plans
  • Exit strategies
  • Next steps for the business

This discussion will focus on concrete actions that can be implemented by entrepreneurs, business owners, and managers to address these key issues. Although the focus is on startups and entrepreneurial ventures, it also applies to established companies, sole proprietors, partnerships, and non-profit organizations.

Agenda:

6:30-7:30 PM – Registration & networking

7:30-7:40 PM – ENET Chairman’s announcements

7:40-7:55 PM – eMinute – Up to 3 Startup companies’ presentations

7:55-8:45 PM – 3 expert speakers on the night’s topic

8:45-9:00 PM – Audience / Speakers Q & A

900-930 PM – Final networking includes meeting presenting speakers

A question and answer session follows the panel discussion, and panelists will be available afterward for responses to individual questions.  As with every ENET meeting, you will also get the chance to network with the panelists and other meeting attendees, both before the start of the meeting and afterward.
